An immense market for environmental technologies is developing in
the Arab World, presenting unprecedented investment opportunities.
In a recent study, the World Bank has estimated investment needs in
the environmental sector across the Arab countries at $10 billion
annually, including capital expenditures and costs of institutional
support. The survey showed that an investment of $100 billion will
be needed over the coming ten years in the following fields: - Water
supplies and waste water management, $30 billion. - Treatment of air
pollution from industrial activities, $25 billion. - Land and
resources management, $25 billion. - Reduction of pollution from
leaded car fuel, $7 billion. - Institutional support and management,
